You have to pay all the utilities here that you would have to pay if you owned a single-family residence in the city.

  • Electricity: We have all-electric Townhomes. Electricity is provided by Progress Energy. Contact them to arrange for your electric service. I couldn’t find a phone number on their website, but I did drill down to a “Start Service (Florida)” page.
  • Cable TV: Both Brighthouse and Verizon (Fios) are wired to the back of your unit. A few residents have satellite service from Direct TV.
  • An Internet connection can be included with your cable service, or purchased separately (I’ve set up a separate page).
  • Water: Contact City of Clearwater provides a lot of services. Arrange with the city to have your water turned on. The number to call concerning billing questions is (727) 562-4600.
  • Garbage, Recycle: These services are also provided by the City of Clearwater. Starting Jan. 11, 2016, the city of Clearwater went to once-a-week garbage and recycle collection.
    • Bayshore pickup-day is Monday for both solid waste and recycled material.
      • Holidays: We will not have collection when Christmas or New Year’s Day fall on Monday. Otherwise we will have collection year-round, including holidays that fall on Monday such as President’s Day or July 4th.
    • You can find detailed instructions on the City’s website, but here are some of them about the “Black Barrel” Garbage Container:
      • On collection day, put your containers at the end of the driveway, on the side of the driveway away from your mailbox, with handle facing away from curb. The city uses trucks to pick up the containers, so leave some space when you put both solid and recycle containers out.
      • Place container at curb no earlier than 7:00 p.m. on the night prior to collection day, and no later than 7:00 a.m. that morning. Remove container from curb no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day following collection.
      • Do not place container within three feet of your recycling bin or other obstructions, i.e., mailboxes, parked cars…
      • It is your responsibility to keep your container clean. Wash it periodically with a hose and mild soap.
      • The curbside containers are owned and provided by the city; leave them behind when you move out. If they are damaged, vandalized, or stolen please contact the City of Clearwater. For theft or vandalized containers you may be asked to submit a police report.
